Bertrand Raguin
One half of Taratata's dynamic French duo, Bertrand calls the wine-growing region of the Loire Valley as his hometown. With just over a quarter of a century's worth of experience and having spent a decade here, Bertrand has worked in France, New Caledonia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taipei. In Singapore, he has worked at L'Aigle d'Or restaurant at the Berjaya Hotel (along Duxton Road) and Top of the M. A classically trained French chef, Bertrand takes charge of Taratata Bistrot's appetisers and desserts. Bertrand also considers himself an adventurous eater and as for non-culinary passions, he has a yen for fast, beautiful cars. Chef Bertrand's current project with his partner Chef Philippe is the Taratata Bistrot tucked away near the heart of Singapore's CBD in a shophouse along Keong Saik Road. Taratata Bistrot's informal nature and unpretentious French cuisine can be seen in its name, loosely translated as "whatever". The bistrot features familiar French favourites including boeuf bourguignon, foie gras and escargots served up in hearty portions. Taratata Bistrot is the realisation of a dream they both shared since meeting in a bar in Singapore 10 years ago. Since 2011 Taratata Bistrot is the only French eatery in Singapore to be helmed by not just one, but two bistrotiers.
